A Volunteer Opportunity for Every Personality
American Cancer Society Volunteer — Provide resources and information from the American Cancer Society (ACS) website, database and 24- hour 1 -800 number to cancer patients. Accommodate the needs of walk -in cancer patients and families with wigs, turbans and prostheses from the center.
Cancer Care Clinic Volunteer — Supplement staff by providing support to staff and comfort measures to patients and their families (coffee, snacks, conversation, etc.). Make deliveries and pickups to laboratory and pharmacy.
Clerical Volunteer — Supplement staff by providing clerical assistance. Volunteers may answer telephones, use office machines and perform data entry and/or word processing, proofreading, photocopying, and filing.
Emergency Room Volunteer — Supplement staff by keeping rooms clean, putting away supplies, restocking carts, running errands and visiting with patients and patient families, as needed.
Geriatric Psychiatry/Occupational Therapy Aide Volunteer — Supplement staff by assisting OT with group activities. Help put out supplies and clean up. Assist with activities, such as painting, papermaking, jewelry making, cooking, poetry, etc.
Gift Shop Clerk Volunteer — Work to facilitate the operations of the hospital gift shop. Make sales to customers, balance sales receipts at the end of the day and restock shelves with items, as needed. Help us keep the gift shop neat and orderly.
Library Volunteer — Greet patrons of the library. Help shelve books and magazines. Assist with checking out books to library patrons. Assist with filing, assembling diagnosis packets and printing
Messenger Volunteer — Supplement staff by performing a variety of duties throughout the hospital. Assist admitting by escorting patients and family to the appropriate nursing unit. Make deliveries as needed throughout the hospital.
Music Therapy Volunteer — Supplement staff by performing musical programs. Assist staff in music therapy and perform for designated patients.
Nursing Unit Volunteer — Supplement staff by providing a variety of services to help make patients more comfortable during their stay and to help facilitate the smooth flow of work and patient movement. This might include caring for plants/flowers, obtaining papers/books for patients, assisting with delivery of meal trays, transporting patients, answering telephones and patient bells and running errands.
Pharmacy Volunteer — Supplement staff to facilitate the work flows in the pharmacy. Assist in processing of stock items, delivery of items, etc. Must have pharmacy assistant license.
