Achieving Excellence

Highline Medical Center’s mission is to improve the health of our community by delivering integrated care that is safe, high-quality, and patient-centered. Our vision is to achieve excellence through exceptional quality and patient-centered care. We achieve our mission and vision through supporting this high quality, patient-centered, accessible care for our community – wherever the need is greatest throughout Highline Medical Center.  Examples of donor support to the Achieving Excellence Initiative may include uncompensated care, our Geriatric Psychiatry Center, new state-of-the-art surgical and other equipment (including Da Vinci robotic surgery)  Planetree patient centered care initiatives, hospice, nursing & staff education, and other emergent needs.

Current Fundraising Initiatives

Cancer Care:

With more than 1.2 million Americans diagnosed with cancer each year – and more than 7 million Americans as cancer survivors – assuring that cancer patients and survivors in our community have access to the latest cancer treatment, integrative therapies, and support is crucial.  Gifts to the Cancer Care Initiative would help support a broad range of continuum of care services, including a new “Nurse Navigator” position to help our cancer patients navigate the multiple touchpoints in the system they must interact with, to create individualized care plans for each patient, and to create survivorship care plans to coordinate care after treatment; a community needs assessment (newly required by the national Commission on Cancer); participation in clinical trials; prevention and screening programs; integrative therapies; and patient, family, and survivor support groups.

Cardiac/Cardiovascular Care:

Almost 40% of all deaths in the U.S. are from heart disease, and more than 5 million Americans suffer from impaired heart function.  Bringing advanced cardiac and cardiovascular services, state-of-the-art technology, and a continuum of support and wellness services is one of the most important healthcare steps we can take for our community.  Gifts to the Cardiac/Cardiovascular Care Initiative would help fund new technology and upgrades (a new state of the art cardiac catheterization  suite), as well as heart health initiatives and community wellness programs (possibly partnering with the YMCA and other community organizations).
