Visitor Information
Family and Friends
We welcome visitors and guests in our hospital and recognize they are an important part of a patient's stay and recovery. Since the care and recovery of our patients are our primary concerns, we hope that our visitor guidelines will be helpful.
As part of our Planetree philosophy of care, we have an open visitation policy. However, for the safety and comfort of our patients, we generally limit visitors to no more than two at any one time. Please remember that a patient's personal needs and wishes for fewer visitors take priority over the established guidelines. Roommates' wishes should also be considered. We ask that you please check with the nurse to find out about any special circumstances or additional guidelines that may apply.
We have found it is best that one family member be responsible for calling the hospital about the condition and progress of a loved one. That person can then relay information to other family members.

Non-Smoking Facility
As a healthcare provider, Highline Medical Center has a responsibility to provide and promote a healthy environment for our patients, visitors and staff. For this reason, Highline Medical Center is a non-smoking facility.
Smoking is not permitted for any patient at any time inside the hospital. Patients of Highline Addiction Recovery Center will be permitted to smoke in a designated outside area. There are no other exceptions for inpatients.
We realize that hospitalization is a stressful time and it may be difficult for some smokers to refrain from smoking for an extended period.
If your hospitalization is planned, we encourage you to discuss your smoking with your healthcare provider or consider the over-the-counter nicotine aids available at most drug stores.
If your hospitalization is unplanned, please notify your nurse right away if you feel you will have difficulty not smoking. Your nurse can arrange with your physician a variety of alternatives to ease your discomfort.
We ask that visitors comply with our smoke-free environment and not smoke anyplace on campus (except in the privacy of their cars). There is no designated visitor smoking area on either campus.
