Information for your patient’s first visit to the infusion clinic:

Our staff members have some suggestions to help your visits be as smooth and comfortable as possible. Please let us know if you have any special needs (oxygen or a bed). We will do our best to accommodate you. For your convenience, our treatment areas have comfortable recliner chairs and restrooms.

Your visit may last several hours. May we suggest:

  1. Bring a friend or family member to visit during your treatment to help pass the time. Seating space is available for one or two guests.
  2. If nonemergent issues arise, please write them down and bring to your next appointment to discuss with your doctor.
  3. Bring a list of the medications (including vitamins or supplements) you take, including the dose and your schedule. Or just bring the bottles and we will be happy to make a list for you. It is very important that you advise your doctor if you start or stop any medications (including vitamins or supplements) while you are receiving treatment.

A light snack may be provided for patients during your treatment visit. Coffee, tea and juice are always available. Guests may bring in food or purchase meals from the cafeteria and bring them back to the Cancer Center. Please try to avoid foods with strong odors, as some of our patients may be sensitive to smells.

Visits that take several hours will be given morning appointments to accommodate available treatment/infusion areas.

Please verify your next appointment prior to leaving the Cancer Center, even if you are on a regular schedule. If you are receiving radiation therapy or have other procedures scheduled, advise the schedulers so we may coordinate your appointments.

Your emotional, social and spiritual needs are important to us. Please let us know if you or your family would like a visit with our social worker and/or chaplain.

We believe there is so much more to you than your disease. That is why we have developed an innovative care model to improve quality of life for our patients and community.
