If it is Really Serious, Go to the ER

Emergency Rooms are designed, equipped and staffed to treat serious illness and injuries. Make sure you know how to find the ER nearest to you. Conditions that are best treated at an ER include:

  • Severe or Worsening Allergic Reaction
  • Severe Asthma Attack
  • Extensive Bleeding or Bleeding that Doesn't Stop
  • Breathing Difficulties or Shortness of Breath
  • Severe Broken Bones (multiple or open)
  • Severe Burns
  • Chest Pain, Pressure or Discomfort
  • Coughing or Vomiting Blood
  • Loss of Consciousness or Blackout
  • High Fever in Infants or Small Children (Higher than 104 F or higher)
  • Sudden Severe Headache
  • Head or Spinal Injury or Trauma
  • Poisoning
  • Seizures
  • Sudden Change in Vision or Blurred Vision
  • Sudden Numbness, Dizziness, Weakness or Loss of Balance
  • Unexplained Stupor, Drowsiness of Disorientation
  • Loss of Speech, Trouble Speaking or Understanding Speech
  • Suicidal or Homicidal Feelings
  • Severe or Persistent Abdominal Pain, Vomiting or Diarrhea

Directions

  • From I-5 (North or South), take exit 154 (Burien/SeaTac Airport - Hwy 518 West).
  • Go past the exit for SeaTac Airport.
  • As freeway ends, watch for signs to 509 South/Des Moines. Turn left onto 509.
  • Take first exit, South 160th Street. Turn right onto 160th. Cross First Avenue South.
  • Continue up the hill on 160th St and take your first left onto 8th Ave S.
  • The entrance to the ER will be on your left about a half a block up.
  • Follow the signs for patient parking.
